Super Quick

Highlights of the week:

I hit my 9 month mark. Not sure when all that time passed but it’s gone by super quickly. I’m so happy to have spent the past 9 months here in Peru serving the Lord and sharing the restored gospel :)

INTERCAMBIOS: I got to be companions with Hermana Machuruti (my trainer) again! She’s one of my favorite people ever. It was so much fun. (see pic)

There was a dog running around sacrament meeting. It’s a peruvian dog (picture attached) and it’s name is Stitch which kills me because it looks like an alien. (Side Note: Peruvian dogs all look like this but there are dogs of all sizes just all bald and creepy looking. Also people say that they can cure cancer…? No se.)

Multizone conference: We had a mini Thanksgiving feast.

This week I read the story of Alma the Younger. It’s always been one of my favorites. I love that thanks to our Savior, Jesus Christ, we can change. Alma was one of the vilest of sinners but afterwards you can see such a great change. Its incredible to see this change in all the people we are teaching!!!

Mosiah 27.

Oh, That’s Great!

Happy Monday! And Happy 4th of July tomorrow! I am thankful for America and all the great things there. Also thankful for Peru and all the great things here, including everything that happened this past week:

This week so many people came to church and it was the greatest. Usually Sunday isn’t a day of rest, it’s a day of judgement to see if any of the people we teach will show up at church, but this Sunday was so good. I’m so excited! For real, you can’t know how true the church is if you never go, so it was great that our investigators were there.

We still have to sleep in Rimac every night and now the bus drivers recognize us so that’s fun. One of the bus drivers wrote his phone number on my bus ticket and I passed it on as a reference so the missionaries can visit him.

While contacting this week, someone said, “Oh, my grandma was Mormon, but she passed away a couple years ago…” I didn’t fully understand so I responded with something along the lines of, “Oh that’s great!” I didn’t realize until we walked away. My companion was cracking up. Oh well.

Favorite scripture this week: Alma 36:24. I love Alma’s enthusiasm for missionary work! Its so great to be here in Peru, teaching people the Gospel of Jesus Christ, so just like Alma they can be born again of God and be filled with the Holy Ghost. Love it.

My favorite dog that lives in our sector. Its so huge and hairy and does nothing but sleep!

Nothing I Can Say

This week has been interesting as we were the only avanzados and so many new missionaries came in! It’s great though. I love practicing my spanish with the other [native speaking] Hermanas but they speak so fast and I have to ask them to repeat themselves all the time. Good thing I’ve got 2 weeks left here in the CCM (Low key freaking out. It’s all good though).

I swear the CCM is the cleanest place in the world. Every week we have a service activity which is just cleaning something random and it’s always a good time with Percy the maintenance supervisor.

We are practicing teaching so many times a day now. It’s such good practice but still the hardest thing ever. I learn so much every day and am thankful for the Spirit to teach me.

This week we watched a devotional from Elder Holland and he shared Alma 26:13. Basically what I got from it was that this crazy missionary work thing is possible because of the power of the word of God which is in us. I know that nothing I can say to people is going to help them come to know their savior Jesus Christ better; its all about the word of God in the scriptures and the Spirit that comes from reading them. Being able to testify of Christ every day is the best blessing and I know that every time I share those words with someone, my testimony grows as well. I love it! Also check out Alma 34:30.

Love y’all!
